Simon Cowell flies into the UK for X Factor crisis talks

Simon Cowell has flown into the UK for crisis talks about this year’s X Factor after TV bosses were said to be having "cold sweats” about the new UK series.

Cowell, who has so far delayed making any concrete decisions about the judges who will sit on the UK panel, as well as who will host the The Xtra Factor, is rumoured to be stalling until he has a better idea of the plans for the US X Factor.

The TV and music mogul's decision is rumoured to be resting on whether or not Cheryl Cole lands a spot as a judge on the American version of the hit TV show – a decision said to lie with Fox TV.

But with auditions for the UK X Factor just a few weeks ago, show bosses need to know who this year’s judges will be.
"All this dithering is seeing them (TV bosses) break out in cold sweats,” an insider told The Sun.

The source continued: “Simon's focus is on the US series, which has nothing to do with ITV. They don't even know if he will be back on the show - at the moment they are thinking he won't be. He's back in the UK now and they are hoping to get something from him this week so everyone can sleep at night."

So far, rumours have been circulating that Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue will return to the panel, while former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne – who has been involved long-running feud with Dannii over the last few years – will be drafted in too, to spice things up.

Pop star Lily Allen is also thought to be in the running, after reportedly having two meetings with bosses about becoming a judge.

The assumption is that Cheryl will be moving to the US X Factor – but TV executives in America are said to be concerned that while the Geordie lovely is a huge hit in the UK, she’s not so well known in the States.

Host of The X Factor Dermot O’Leary meanwhile has been signed up to the UK for another series, after missing out on the US presenting job; but Konnie Huq, the host of The Xtra Factor, is not believed to have been offered a contract, as yet.

Tick-tock, tick-tock Simon, time is fast drawing in and people won’t wait around forever! Who would you like to see judging this year’s X Factor? Tell us your thoughts using the comments facility on the site.
