Fiona Phillips to replace Holly Willoughby on This Morning?

Fiona Phillips is one of the presenters who is being tipped to take over from pregnant Holly Willoughby on This Morning, when she takes her maternity leave.

The former GMTV star, who quit the show in December 2008 to spend more time with her family, is apparently in the running and is up against fellow TV talent such as GMTV newsreader Helen Fospero and Ruth Langsford, who currently presents the Friday episode of This Morning.

Daybreak host Christine Bleakley has also been tipped to take over from Holly.

Since leaving GMTV, Fiona hasn’t been seen on TV in a regular role – so it would no doubt be a challenge she would relish.

A source told The Mirror that TV bosses are keen to get someone who has already made their mark in the industry and can step into Holly's shoes with ease.

"There is a desire to play safe and recruit someone well-liked by viewers. Holly intends to return to work later and so they don't want to try someone 'edgy' who might end up alienating the audience.

"The women being talked about all have vast experience and are seen as safe pairs of hands.”

Holly, who also presents Dancing on Ice on Sunday nights on STV, is set to give birth to her second child, a girl, with husband Dan Baldwin in May. The pair already have son Harry, who will be two in May.
