Cheryl Cole has reportedly been praised by an executive for US TV network Fox.
The Girls Aloud star is said to be in the running for a prized place on the panel of the planned US franchise of The X Factor.
Peter Rice told Access Hollywood that he was pleased with Cole's performance on the UK version of the show.
He is quoted as saying: "If Cheryl was to be on the show, I think she's proved that she's a terrific judge.
"She has wonderful chemistry with Simon."
Meanwhile, Cowell recently hit the headlines when he spoke out to scotch rumours that Will Smith had been offered a role on the X Factor panel.
Simon told Extra: "I would love to work with Will.
"But I don't know where this story has come from, because we have never even spoken."
