Coronation Street legend Bill Tarmey is to have a copper statue erected in his memory at the Street’s studios.
The Corrie cast and crew are raising money for a monument to the popular actor.
Bill played Jack Duckworth in the Weatherfield drama for over 30 years and died in November at the age of 71.
A source told The People: “Everyone on the Corrie set dearly loved Bill and his death was a real shock.”
Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs in the soap, dedicated his National Television Award to Bill.
At the time he said: “He guided me from the start of my Coronation Street career.
“He was such a huge influence. He was like a second dad.”
Bill left the soap in April 2010 to spend more time with his family as his son Carl was battling a brain tumour.
