Lip Service star Heather Peace reveals second series hopes

Heather Peace has enjoyed roles on some fantastic dramas, including London’s Burning and The Chase, but she is clearly relishing the success of her most recent part, playing Detective Sergeant Sam Murray in hot BBC Three programme, Lip Service.

The show, which is based on the lives of lesbian women in Glasgow, has become a huge success and Heather told reporter Laura Boyd that she couldn’t quite believe the response.

“It’s gone mad hasn’t it? I guess for me cause I wasn’t one of the lead three girls, I didn’t really expect the response but it has gone mad,” said the clearly delighted 34 year old.

Lorraine Kelly even Tweeted that she is fan, writing: “Has anyone been watching lip service??? Sam is my favourite.”

Critics were quick to jump on the explicit sex scenes but Peace was keen to defend them saying: “I think every sex scene has a reason. I think there’s different emotions behind each one. I personally don’t think it’s gratuitous. It may be gratuitous for some people, but then don’t watch it.”

Clearly passionate about the show, Heather continued: “It’s about time that lesbian sex was portrayed in more than just a pornographic way. It’s about emotion, it’s about love, it was about whatever it was about, other than just that.”

Aside from acting, Heather is also a stunning singer and is currently touring, performing at intimate venues across the country.

Since the show has taken off, tickets have sold out with Heather having to add dates to accommodate her clearly adoring fans.

She said: “I’ve got people going mad on twitter not being able to get tickets!”

So what can fans expect from Miss Peace’s performance?

“I’d say I’m across between the guitar style of Eva Cassidy and Sheryl Crow.

“For these gigs I’m doing a heck of a lot of stuff that is covers and I’ll do a few of my own, but the plan is to start introducing my own stuff a bit more and a bit more whilst interweaving it with stuff people know.”

Privileged to hear her perform last night at Sloans in Glasgow, it’s clear to see why tickets have flown out the door. Heather definitely harbours a unique soulful voice that delighted the lucky Lip Service fans who packed the venue.

The questions on everyone’s lips, is whether Lip Service will return for a second series.

Heather said: “I am really confident there will be a series two. It’s there for the taking. Lets just hope everyone wants to come back that’s done series one.”

Fingers crossed…
