X Factor star Matt Cardle has admitted that he is finding it hard being recognised everywhere he goes.

The former painter and decorator revealed that he missed being able to spend his time with friends and family.

Speaking on his official video blog, Cardle said: "What do I miss about my life before the X Factor?

"I miss not being able to go out and not get recognised. You can't go out without getting mobbed in certain places."

He added: "I miss my dog. I miss my nephew. And my mates and going out for a pint.

"I miss not caring about what I say or do, in case someone puts it in the papers."

However, Matt went of to say that "the pluses way outweigh" the downside to appearing on the talent show.

Cardle and fellow contestant Rebecca Ferguson are the bookmakers' favourites to take the crown on this year's X Factor.

Bookies Paddy Power have Cardle in front at 11/8, while Ferguson's odds have been cut to 2/1.

The pair's closest rivals are Simon Cowell's boyband One Direction who are at 4/1.

Katie Waissel is down as a longshot outsider with odds of 125/1.
