Susan Boyle has had the most incredible year and a half since she appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in May 2009.

The unassuming lady with the sensational voice became an overnight singing sensation, when the clip of her performing I Dreamed a Dream at the BGT audition, generated unprecedented global attention via Youtube.

Fast forward a year and Susan has encountered the highs and lows of fame, dealing with the reality of suddenly having her every move scrutinised in the press.

Looking relaxed in front of her favourite judge, she opened up to Piers about her true feelings after losing out to Diversity in the Britain’s Got Talent final.

She said: "I did panic, because I'd just come second. I didn't realise that that would be a good thing, not a bad thing.

"I was exhausted. I needed somewhere to go to recuperate. Everybody knows that I went to The Priory.

"It was a bit of a scare, a scary time for me, being in a place like that. Although very therapeutic for some people, for people like me it was very scary.”

SHE DREAMED A DREAM

Responding to press reports that she is prone to tantrums, Susan admitted that she does have a fiery side, but she is learning to control it.

"I have got a temper. I'm like the Incredible Hulk.

"I think most of the time I was tired. I've learned to control that now."

"It is a defence mechanism. It was my way of dealing with a whole load of tension. I was channelling it into the wrong things.

“I was letting fire at everybody and I really shouldn't have been doing that,” revealed the 49 year old.

It is no wonder Susan gets angry. Taunted and bullied as a youth, she has spoken about being pushed to the edge.

Now, the bubbly Blackburn lady is having the last laugh, earning millions from her music and relishing every moment she gets to perform - none more so that when the devout catholic was asked to sing for the Pope during his visit to Glasgow in September.

Piers brings out the best in Susan and it’s refreshing to see her down to earth sense of humour remains, despite becoming an international star.

Fresh from revealing she’s still on the look our for Mr. right, Susan even flirted with Piers, telling him he’s the reason she went along to the BGT auditions and that her trademark wiggle was just from him.

Simply charming and definitely worth a watch, Susan Boyle is on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Saturday, 9.30.
