James Arthur took time out of his hectic schedule today to talk to stv.tv about his X Factor experience, how it feels to have won the show and his love for Scotland, in particular, Scottish females.
The 24-year-old singer, whose father is from Glasgow, beat Jahmene Douglas to take the talent show crown on Sunday night and since then, has been living in a whirlwind of interviews and appearances, as he promotes debut single, Impossible.
Scottish fans got behind the talented singer / songwriters bid for X Factor glory and today he wanted to thank them for their support.
James said: “I’ve got to say thanks for the unconditional love and support that the Scottish fans have shown. They were a big part of what won me the competition and I can’t thank them enough, although I didn’t expect anything less – we take care of our own.”
The charming lad said his family north of the border celebrated his win with a whisky or two, before admitting he can’t wait to return to Scotland with the X Factor tour, to party in style in Glasgow.
James emerged as the heartthrob of X Factor 2012, attracting an army of female fans.
He has been linked to a number of gorgeous girls throughout the series, but seemed to get on particularly well with Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack.
Speaking of the possibility of a romance with the gorgeous 32-year-old, he played down reports, saying: “We will probably hang out as friends. She’s a lovely girl. I’ve made a good friend in Caroline Flack but she’s very professional. She won’t be trying it on with me.”
James also said X Factor judge Tulisa is “beautiful”, but insisted she is happily dating footballer Danny Simpson, who is a “really nice guy.”
So does that mean James is single and ready to mingle? Steady ladies...
He said: “I am absolutely 1 million per cent single.”
And for those females in Scotland with a soft spot for the singer - putting on a convincing Glaswegian accent, he said: “I love the Scottish accent and I would absolutely love to meet a Scottish girl.”
Before you go booking in your wax and spray tan session for the eve of the X Factor tour, he added that, for now, he is “focusing on his career.”
James Arthur’s debut single, Impossible, is out now. The track is available to download from iTunes with 100 per cent of the profits going to Together for Short Lives, the UK’s leading charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and those who care for and support them.
