Rylan Clark takes credit for Nicole Scherzinger success on X Factor

Eliminated X Factor star Rylan Clark clearly has no problem with his self-confidence, after claiming his fun-loving presence has helped mentor Nicole Scherzinger go down well with audiences on this year’s show.

The 24-year-old former contestant, who was looked after by Nic in the Boys’ category, thinks he really helped the singer – who joined X Factor UK as a judge this year – to come out of her shell.

Speaking to Yahoo!’s omg column, he said: "Lots of people say they are friends with Nicole. It's b******* but we have a genuine friendship.

"I brought out that [fun] side of Nicole. I was her golden ticket.”

The perma-tanned singer, who entertained viewers with his ‘novelty act’ performances, continued: “People were worried about her up until Boot Camp but the second I went through she started having fun."

Rylan’s comments come after weeks of controversy on the show, with some viewers believing that other contestants deserved their place in the competition more than he did.

But while the judges agreed that Rylan’s vocal ability wasn’t always up to the same level as his rivals, he certainly injected some fun into this year’s series.

Rylan was eliminated from the contest last night (November 25) after facing the dreaded sing-off against boy band Union J. He was the first to be aXed from the Boys’ category on this year’s show.

The fact Nicole has managed to hold onto her three boys up until now is a huge coup for the former Pussycat Doll and Simon Cowell is believed to be hugely impressed with her performance.

Now just four act remain in The X Factor – Union J, Over 28s contestant Chris Maloney, and Nicole’s two Boys, Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur.

The show returns this Saturday (December 1) when the acts compete in the semi-final stage of the contest. It’s going to be a must-see!
