X Factor’s Chris Maloney getting ‘double the votes’ of the other acts

X Factor*s Christopher Maloney is reportedly scooping around double of the votes any other contestant is getting on this year’s singing show.

The Over 28s hopeful – who is the only act remaining in Gary Barlow’s category – is well known for belting out cheesy 80s ballads week-after-week, something which judges including Tulias Contostavlos have slammed him for, urging the singer to perform more contemporary hits.

But clearly Chris is doing something right, as it seems fans of his are rushing to cast their votes.

A ‘show insider’ reportedly told The Sun: “Chris is getting double the votes of anyone else.”

But while the source tipped Chris as one of the most popular contestants with voters, bookmakers continue to offer odds suggesting that he won’t make it much further in the competition.

Bookmaker Paddy Power is currently offering punters odds of 7/2 that he’ll be booted out during this Sunday’s elimination, just behind Rylan Clark with odds of 9/4 and District3 with odds of 13/8.

William Hill meanwhile is offering odds of 3/1 that Chris will be for the chop this weekend, just behind Rylan Clark, with odds of 7/4 that the Essex lad will be the most likely act to leave X Factor in week six of the Live Shows.

Ella Henderson, 16, meanwhile remains the favourite to win then 2012 series.

But in reality, despite all the speculation, it all comes down to who performs well this weekend and who the public choose to back when the vote opens. The remaining seven contestants – Chris, Ella, Union J, District3, James Arthur, Rylan Clark and Jahmene Douglas – will tackle hits from Blighty in a Best of British theme. We can’t wait!

X Factor returns to STV this Saturday at 8.05pm and on Sunday at 8pm, when one more act will be aXed.
