I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! 2012: official line-up revealed

After months of speculation, the full, official, line-up for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! 2012 has been announced and what a wonderful bunch of starry folk we have entering the jungle this year.

Leaving the luxury of their plush pads behind and swapping four-poster beds for rat-ridden hammocks (mwahahaha), let’s take a look at who will be gracing our screens from Sunday night.

First up, it’s heavy weight boxing champion David Haye, who is determined to pack a punch in the jungle and has admitted he can’t stand losing, so he’s going to ensure he gives it his all in every Bushtucker trial he faces. Is David destined to be the hero in the jungle?

Swapping the cobbles for cobwebs and goodness knows what else, it’s Coronation Street ‘stunner’ (in a tabloid stylee) Helen Flanagan. Sure to give Myleene Klass a run for her money in the bikini stakes, the 22-year-old admitted she shopped for some extra special swimwear before flying to Oz. Helen is scared of jumping out of planes and spiders. She’s on the right show then…

Determined to keep the camp smiling, Brian Conley can’t wait to get his teeth into camp life – and anything else that comes his way – but just don’t mention the rats. He can’t stand them. Again, have you watched this show Brian?

Sure to be one of the most ‘colourful’ characters on the show this year is Conservative MP Nadine Dorries. The 55-year-old outspoken lovely also hates rats (in her line of work?) but thinks I’m a Celebrity will be just like her day to day job, only a little warmer.

She said: “Westminster is a jungle. Game playing, tactics, strategies. In Westminster you achieve everything by vote. This is the same. The parallels are huge.”

If anyone needs a Doctor in the jungle, we have one – well, kind of. Doctor Who star Colin Baker is venturing to Oz on a mission to lose weight! He’s taking part in the series because his four daughters are big fans and they can’t wait to see their darling dad attempt to eat witchetty grubs and the like. Charming!

It could be a battle of Corrie v Easties as EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks has joined the line-up. The 31-year-old star has admitted she’s going to find it tough to be away from her daughter, Kiki, but she could be the peacemaker in camp, as she finds it very easy to get on with people. You say that now Charlie, try spending three weeks with them!

Someone who will certainly miss his luxurious home comforts is posh boy Hugo Taylor. Hugo is not only a former star of reality(ish) show Made in Chelsea, he’s also a pal of Pippa Middleton, don’t you know. He’s looking forward to the challenge of removing himself from the champagne lifestyle he leads – oooooh! Hugo has admitted he will find it tough to be separated from his friends, family and girlfriend. Drat to the last part, eh, ladies?

Birds of a Feather star Linda Robson is also going in but she’s already said she will refuse to do any trial involving being in a coffin with rats and mice crawling over her. Do these people never learn to keep quiet? That’s just begging for a vote for a rodent-ridden challenge!

Linda also revealed her luxury item is a sarong. No bikini shower scenes for this much loved actress.

The same can’t be said for Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts who is single and ready to mingle in camp. The 31-year-old said: “British men are very charming and if the man of my dreams is in the jungle, then let it be! I am 100% single.” Sadly, most of the men in the jungle aren’t but, hey, a girl can dream!

Ashley said her dream fellow camper would be any of the Pussycat Dolls. You and about half the viewing population Ash.

Last, but by no means least, darts champion Eric Bristow will be winging his way onto the show. Eric insists his friends and family think he’s “nuts and mad” and he doesn’t view the Bushtucker trials as a problem – we’ll be watching to see if he changes his mind. He’s simply doing the show for a laugh, for an experience, and can’t wait to get stuck in.

So there you have it: our ten 2012 celebrities in all their glory.

But what can they expect from this year’s show? Even more guts and gore! This year, the I’m a Celeb team have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the celebrities will face alarming shocks, startling surprises and nail-biting challenges.

And as if that’s not enough, everybody’s favourite cheeky Geordies, Ant and Dec, will be back hosting the programme each night… if we can drag them off the golf course.

The action kicks off on Sunday night at 9pm – don’t miss it!

This year, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is supporting charity Malaria No More UK with 15p from every phone vote being donated to help save lives in Africa.
