Emmerdale star Danny Miller took home the Best Soap Actor at the TV Choice Awards.
He won the accolade for his portrayal of mechanic Aaron Livesy, who recently came out as a homosexual.
It was one of the three awards won by the Yorkshire-based drama on the night.
Adam Thomas, who plays Adam Barton took home Best Soap Newcomer.
Meanwhile, the storyline which covered Aaron's struggle with his sexuality won the Best Soap Storyline.
Coronation Street received a special award as it prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in December.
The Best Talent Show category was won by Britain's Got Talent while the Best Reality Show was I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.
BBC's EastEnders celebrated its 25th year by winning Best Soap, while exiting Lacey Tuner picked up Best Soap Actress for her performance as Stacey Branning.
