Emmerdale actors Tom Lister and Lucy Pargeter have revealed that Carl's affair storyline is likely to run until the end of the year.
Viewers have seen Tom's character Carl Lister begin a steamy affair with Eve Jenson (Suzanne Shaw).
Meanwhile, Pargeter's alter ego Chas Dingle remains oblivious to her partner's cheating ways.
Speaking at the TV Choice Awards, Lister told Digital Spy: "We've got a really big few months playing out."
Pargeter added: "Carl is going to have to be eating a lot of protein to keep up with his storyline!
"Let's just say that he's going to be looking a bit tired around the edges!
"We've got a long-burn, a slow-burn to the exposure of the storyline. It'll see us through well until Christmas, I think."
Speaking of Carl's affair, Lister told PA: `He thinks he's having his cake and eating it. He doesn't want to hurt Chas but she's oblivious.
"Eve knows things are still great with Chas yet she's still there being a willing recipient and ready to be there when he needs her.
"He's a bit of a horrendous individual when it comes to stuff like that. He's very selfish and self involved."
