Big Brother fans up and down the country are glued to their TV’s each night, hoping for a glimmer of hope that former husband and wife, Preston and Chantelle, will get back together.

What could have been an extremely awkward situation has blossomed into an endearing friendship making for must-see TV for thousand of viewers – those Ultimate Big Brother producers chose well.

Whilst it plays out like a soap opera to most, there are of course real feelings involved and Preston’s family have spoken out to say they truly hope the pair don’t rekindle their romance.

Not for any malicious reason or because they aren’t fond of Chantelle, but for one, Preston already has a girlfriend, and two, it clearly didn’t work the first time, why would it be any different now?

Speaking to new! magazine, Preston’s sister Lucy said: “They’ve tried it once and it didn’t work but it’s four years later, so maybe they’ve grown up and realised the things that would make it work now.”

When asked if she would like to see them reunite, she said: “Nothing against Chantelle, but no. I think they’re divorced for a reason.”

Preston’s mum feels the same telling The Mirror: "They still don't have anything in common and that's one of the reasons they split in the first place.

"Chantelle still loves Sammy [Preston] and I find it sad to watch. She's sweet and I worry she'll get hurt again."

Whilst Chantelle clearly longs for the romantic dream, Preston is cautious not to give her too much hope.

Yesterday, viewers watched the glamour model invite him to her mum’s this Sunday to visit the dogs they once shared.

Clearly not enamoured by the idea but conscious of not wanting to hurt the ex he still cares for, he said: “ye, maybe,” in a less than enthusiastic manner.

Cringeworthy viewing or Big Brother gold? You decide.
