The mobile phone company Nokia has unveiled a new mobile app for The X Factor, according to reports.

The mobile phone company Nokia has unveiled a new mobile app for The X Factor, according to reports.

The firm, who are the official mobile partner of Simon Cowell's reality TV talent show, have stated that the app will provide X Factor fans with the "latest information on the series in their pockets".

The application will offer news and backstage gossip from the programme and will feature "exclusive video and photo content".

John Nichols, Nokia UK marketing director, said in a statement: "The X Factor app is a great new way for fans to connect and engage with the show.

"Working with TalkbackThames digital and ITV, we will be providing some amazing content and information about the show, giving users instant access to the nation's favourite TV series and its stars on the go."

TalkbackThames head of digital Robert Marsh added: "An important part of our continuing strategy to evolve the X Factor brand is to build its presence across multi-platforms to further enrich viewers' enjoyment of the show. Phone apps are a key area of development for us when we look at the digital extension of our entertainment brands.

"We are always looking for new ways to deliver great content to fans, working alongside our partners such as ITV and Nokia, and The X Factor app puts all of this at their fingertips."
