Fiery temper: Peggy's Theme track available for fans Pic: BBC
As Peggy Mitchell gets set to say “ger out of my pub” for the last time, Eastenders fans can purchase a special piece of music recorded to mark the momentous moment in soap history.
A special, reworked composition of the Eastenders theme tune that will be used for Peggy’s exit will be available to download in the coming weeks.
Simon May’s track, entitled Peggy's Theme, will be available on a new collection of his work, scheduled for release on September 13.
Keen fans of the show can pre-order the Peggy’s Theme EP from 9am on September 4 on iTunes.
The EP will contain five tracks including the 2009 updated version of the EastEnders theme tune, Nick Berry's Every Loser Wins and Somethin Out Of Nothin’ featuring Letitia Dean and Paul Medford.
Anita Dobson's track Anyone Can Fall In Love which reached number four in the charts in 1986, will also feature.
Peggy’s last scenes will be shown on Thursday, September 9, when the Queen Vic is destroyed in a blaze.
Although it has not been confirmed whether Peggy dies in the pub, a show insider revealed details of filming to The Mirror, saying: "There was a very loud explosion followed by lots of screaming and coughing and then more voices shouting 'Peggy, Peggy'.
"No one knows yet if Peggy dies in the fire but a host of other characters are being written out so there is a good chance someone will be killed off when the Vic burns."
