Fans of Scottish hunk James Morton are feeling a little deflated this morning after the master baker lost out on the top spot in the Great British Bake Off final last night.
The 21-year-old, from Shetland, captured the hearts of the nation with his crazy bakes and strangely sexy woolly jumpers, but last night viewers watched as John Whaite was crowned cream of the crop.
But, never fear James lovers. The medical student’s dad has been speaking out about his son’s success and said he hasn’t ruled out a return to our television screens.
DJ and TV presenter Tom Morton told the Daily Record: “James has some ideas about combining health and science with baking, so he might be back on our screens one day.”
You can watch Tom in action in this clip above from the STV archives, as he sets off on his motorbike in search of the Spirit of Adventure – whisky! So that’s where James got his love of the tipple, which features in so many of his bakes, from.
Tom also spoke of his sons new found sex symbol status, saying: “Our family all wear Fair Isle knits and I don’t think James ever imagined he would one day be referred to as a sex symbol and fashion icon.”
Although James loved every moment of taking part in Bake Off, last night he sent an emotional message to the thousands of Twitter followers, saying: “Dear everyone, I am so, so sorry for letting you down. Thank you for the support. Sincerely, James.”
You didn’t let anyone down James and we look forward to you, and those itchy looking jumpers, returning to our televisions in the not-too-distant future.
