Melanie Masson moments: check out the aXed X Factor Scot’s best bits

What a weekend for Scotland: we lost at the football, Andy Murray failed to win the Shanghai Masters and to top it all off, our Scottish X Factor hope, Melanie Masson, was voted out of the competition tonight. Pah!

Never fear Melanie fans – let us brighten up your dismal weekend with a little look back at just how fabulous our favourite yummy-mummy was in the competition.

Melanie first came to our attention when she belted out Janis Joplin hit Cry Baby at the auditions – a performance that led future mentor Gary Barlow to gush: “That was insane, oh my god that voice! You were guiding us through the song. It was amazing, it really was.”

Take a look back at that moment.

Melanie sailed through Bootcamp and headed to Judges’ Houses, where she was thrilled to perform Paul Young’s Every time You Go Away for Gary and his guest judge Cheryl Cole.

Speaking of meeting Chezza, Mel told stv.tv: “She was just lovely. She is so lovely and oh my god, in real life she is beautiful and she’s just gorgeous. She’s like a doll. I can not explain how beautiful and how warm she is.”

Melanie obviously made a big impression on Cheryl too as the singer and Gary decided Ms Masson should be one of the Overs to go through to Live Shows.

On week one, Melanie was in her “hippy heaven” as she wowed with a Woodstock worthy performance of Beatles classic With a Little Help From my Friends. Watch the magical moment again here.

On Live Show 2, she rocked a stunning rendition of Never Tear Us Apart which the judges once again praised. Watch Melanie’s performance now.

Sadly, it wasn’t enough to win over the public and Melanie ended up in the sing-off with boyband District3.

She put her heart and soul into her survival song, Stay With Me Tonight. Get your hankies at the ready as you watch this one.

Gary and Nicole Scherzinger voted to save Melanie, while Tulisa and Louis opted for District3, sending the vote to Deadlock.

Dermot O’Leary revealed that Melanie had received the fewest votes from the public and was therefore the second contestant to be sent home. Sniff sniff.

Mel insisted she had the time of her life on the show saying “it has just been amazing.”

The yummy mummy will now head back home to her adorable children and her actor husband Forbes Masson - who you can check out in action in this exclusive STV video, when he appeared on TV as part of duo ‘Victor and Barrie’ alongside Hollywood star Alan Cumming.

With a voice like Melanie’s, we’re sure it’s not the last we’ve heard from this Cathcart girl.
