The first in a series of exciting Postcode Challenge celebrity specials will appear on STV this Friday, 3 September at 8pm. Two celebs and their teams battle it out to win the £25,000 jackpot for their chosen charities. Postcode Challenge is sponsored by charity lottery People’s Postcode Lottery.
In Friday’s fast-paced and feisty show, Aggie MacKenzie, Scottish presenter and journalist who became an instant star through the Channel 4 series How Clean is Your House, takes on stand-up comedian and presenter Des Clarke in the nail biting quiz, and they’re both determined to win as much money as possible to support their charities.
Des Clarke, known from Galaxy Breakfast and BBC Scotland’s Children in Need, has chosen to support The Prince’s Trust, a charity that helps enable young people to move into work, education or training.
Des said: “I had such a blast filming Postcode Challenge - the most fun I've had on TV in ages! It was great going head to head with Aggie. She's a feisty competitor and I knew if I got out of line I'd feel the thick end of her feather duster.
“Most of all I was honoured to play for The Prince's Trust Scotland. I've been an ambassador of the charity for a few years now and have seen first hand the great work they do with young people throughout the country. Hopefully HRH himself will be watching!”
Aggie MacKenzie and her team will play for housing and homelessness charity Shelter Scotland. She had a ball making the programme, saying: “I love quiz shows, so competing on Postcode Challenge was really exciting, and my fellow team members were all fantastic. I was very proud to play for Shelter to help support the incredible work they do for people in housing need. I hope viewers tune in to find out which team cleaned up in the end, but it’s safe to say we gave Des a run for his money!”
Postcode Challenge is hosted by Angus Purden and sponsored by charity lottery People’s Postcode Lottery. Every Friday night, the fast-paced and entertaining quiz show brings viewers a mix of exciting competition and great banter, as two teams from across Scotland battle it out and attempt to win the £25,000 jackpot.
The competing teams are tested on their general knowledge in two nerve-wracking rounds, and answer postcode related survey questions which reveal amusing facts about the psyche or behaviour of people within a certain area.
The game culminates in a tense final, in which the last team standing pull together to try and scoop the jackpot.
