Shirlena Johnson, who was axed from The X Factor, has begged the show's bosses to give her another chance.

The singer was removed from the show after producers learnt of her mental health issues.

X Factor boss Simon Cowell said that he was "devastated" by the turn of events.

Shirlena's performance at the Boot Camp may now be cut from the programme but she is hopeful that show bosses will change their minds.

She told The Sun: "This decision could spoil my life and desires - I'm now labelled as a crazy person.

"They're worried I can't cope, but this has been the craziest week of my life and I'm still standing.

"I'm still trying to turn this around - I'm begging them to give me another chance."

Discussing the moment she learned that her future on the show was in doubt: "Simon Cowell spoke to me on the phone and said he liked me very much and he wanted me on the show.

"I said, 'That would be great', but it does not look like that now. It was nice of him to phone personally, but I still want to be part of the show."

Johnson insisted that she would speak to more doctors to prove that she would be able to cope with the pressures of being involvoed.

She said: "They told me their doctor said I couldn't do it on my doctor's advice. But why won't they see me for themselves?

"My doctor is a new doctor who's only seen me once. I'm sure Simon's doctor is better."

She added: "One in four British adults suffers from a mental illness. So do lots of famous people - there shouldn't be a stigma attached.

"This is why people hide mental illnesses and don't get help, because it's on their records and then something like this happens.

"It will make people who think they have a mental health problem avoid seeking help."
