Scottish X Factor Diva reveals he’s 'raging' about auto-tune Fergus Kinnon managed 57 seconds of fame on Saturday night’s X Factor when his group, Diva Features, performed eighties hit, Waiting for the Stars to Fall.

Viewers saw Simon Cowell tell the band: “It looked like you just met at a bus stop five minutes ago”, but that was only a snippet of what the judges actually said to the Divas.

Fergus, from Aberdeen, told stv.tv: “Simon Cowell was the perfect gentleman and both he and Geri said I reminded them of David Walliams.

“I think Louis Walsh had an eye for me as he said ‘Fergus, you’re quirky, but I think you should come back next year with a different group.’”

He was slightly less enthusiastic about Cheryl Cole who apparently had little to say about Diva Features. Perhaps she was just in shock…

Flamboyant Fergus revealed that the he and his two female band members have  since become local celebrities in Aberdeen, but he does have one gripe with show bosses.

Speaking about the revelation that some performers' vocals were auto-tuned in post production, the 24 year old said: “I’m raging. I’m the only blooming one that never got auto-tuned – I want answers from the editors!”

“The G&S girl (Caroline) was so auto-tuned, it was ridiculously obvious.”

He added: “It’s a singing competition and they are putting people on auto-tune. It beggars belief. This year’s X Factor is clearly about personality first and voices second”

Despite his obvious resentment, Fergus was delighted to have appeared on The X Factor stage at all, as this was his fifth attempt at auditioning for the show.

After three gruelling rounds of auditions in front of show producers, he finally got the chance to sing for Cowell and co. and he was determined to make a big impression.

The wannabe star revealed that show bosses were keen for him to “think up a way to make an entrance.”

Having previously auditioned in skin-tight, white hotpants, this young man was certainly going to rise the challenge.

Fergus promptly hired a speedboat to travel down the Clyde and arrive at the SECC in style.

His imaginative arrival clearly caught the attention of X-tra Factor producers and Diva Features featured on Saturday night’s show, with new presenter Konnie Huq.

There has been a mixed response to the former Blue Peter presenter taking over from Holly Willoughby but Fergus said: “Konnie was well into the Diva Features vibe. She had done her research and for her first day she was ace. I think she was just wary of the Scottish auditionees but who could blame her?”

He added: “My 90 year old Grandpa even turned off Poirot to watch me on X-tra Factor.”

So what did Fergus make of the other acts from Saturday’s show?

He joked: “I think the guy from G&S was trying to sabotage our performance as he kept spilling hot tea right next to us. Perhaps next year though, G and I should do a collaboration.

“I thought Gamu was going to be a terrible singer but when I saw her, she was amazing. That’s what X Factor is all about. It’s about completely taking you by surprise.

“As for Stephen Hunter who sang Disco Inferno? That’s me in 20 years!”

Fergus doubts he will go for sixth time lucky on The X Factor but hinted that he may follow Geri and Simon’s comparisons to David Walliams up, by auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent.

With appearances on the Weakest Link, MTV's Skids and Lottery Show Who Dares Wins under his belt, not to mention hosting an Edinburgh Festival feature for stv.tv in 2009 (video above), we’re sure it’s not the last we’ve heard of this fame-hungry, fun-filled Aberdonian.
