Separate ways: The duo G&S before the chop. Pic: ITV
After Simon Cowell found Susan Boyle in Glasgow, he has always had high hopes for Scottish talent. And this year’s X Factor will be no different.
The auditions this summer, with Geri Halliwell sitting in for Dannii Minogue, saw an impressive crop of singers and memorable hopefuls.
One of the funniest acts was duo G&S, which stands for Gay and Straight, and comprises Peter, 37, and Caroline, 21. Geri spotted that Caroline was the better singer and put her through to the next round.
Zimbabwean Gamu captivated the judges with her version of Katrina and the Waves song Walkin’ On Sunshine.
Mark McGregor’s version of R Kelly’s If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time charmed previously prickly Geri.
Mark told the Daily Record: “Geri was very complimentary. Someone said I turned her around. She was being nasty before but after I sang she started to sing.
"Some of the other singers, even the ones that got through, said she wasn't very nice."
Other Scots hopefuls include girl band Atlanta, boys OutRun and Maria.
