Simon Cowell is secretly a huge Strictly Come Dancing fan, the show’s host Tess Daly has revealed.
The news might come as a bit of a shock to some, as TV’s Mr Nasty is the boss of rival weekend entertainment show X Factor, which is often pitted against Strictly.
But Tess insists the media mogul can’t get enough of the programme, which this year sees 14 celebrities and their professional partners battle it out for glory on the dancefloor – and is forever asking her for updates on it.
“Every time I see Simon he asks me about it and he’s secretly a fan,” Tess revealed to the Daily Record.
“He always asks me how it’s going and all about the line-up – he really enjoys it.”
The blonde presenter, who co-hosts Strictly alongside showbiz legend Bruce Forsyth, added: “Simon knows TV, he’s a clever bloke and he understandably thinks Strictly is a great show. He’s the first to say when credit’s due.”
This year’s Strictly Come Dancing sees stars including supermodel Jerry Hall, Girls Aloud signer Kimberley Walsh, former Westlife star Nicky Byrne and retired cricketer Michael Vaughan among the line-up.
The celebs made their big debut last Saturday, when they were teamed up with their professional partners and introduced for the first time to the audience.
Meanwhile, the X Factor X-citement is about to step up a gear this weekend, when the successful acts from the auditions round can be seen taking part in Boot Camp, where the judges will narrow down the hopefuls they’d like to see continue onto the Judges’ Houses stage.
So far acts like Scottish mum/part-time fairy Melanie Masson, singer-songwriter James Arthur, Essex girl Amy Mottram and chimney sweep Kye Sones have impressed the audiences. But who will make it into the next stage? Tune in to STV at 8.10pm this Saturday and at 7.30pm to find out!
