X Factor boss Simon Cowell teased that Louis Walsh has developed a "crush" on guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, according to reports.
The music mogul revealed that Walsh was in an unusually "soft" mood around the pussycat doll.
This was despite reports that Cowell and Scherzinger were "ganging up" on the Irish music manager at the auditions.
It is believed the duo told Walsh his look was "dated" and he needed a makeover.
Simon told The Sun: "Louis hasn't smiled like this for a long time. He's like a lamb on a spring day - I have never seen him like this.
"He is so soft on her. It's very sweet, but it's the first time anyone has known Louis with a crush like this.
"It's like a duckling if it is rescued by a dog. The duckling follows the dog around thinking the dog is its mother. It shouldn't work for obvious reasons - but it does."
It has been reported that the guest position on the X Factor for Nicole has put her in contention for a role on the talent show when it is launched in the States.
