Simon Cowell has revealed that he has signed record producer Labrinth to his Syco Music label, says a report.
The producer, real name Timothy McKenzie, is the first appointment to his staff who does not have an affiliation to one of the media mogul's reality TV shows.
Labrinth is best known for his work on Tinie Tempah's track `Pass Out' which topped the charts in March.
He is currently collaborating on music projects with JLS and Pixie Lott and is scheduled to be working with Cheryl Cole later this year, says Digital Spy.
It is believed that the deal will see Labrinth as head of Odd Child/Syco Music, an imprint label which will seek out new talented acts for development.
Meanwhile, Alexandra Burke recently revealed that Simon Cowell has discovered the source of the leaks at the record label.
The former X Factor winner has had a number of tracks leaked to the internet in advance of their release date.
Cowell was reportedly forced to call in the FBI to investigate the internet piracy after more than 40 tracks from his Syco artists were leaked online.
Alexandra told the Star Observer that the alleged culprits were two teenage lads who were on work experience at the label.
She explained: "24 songs of mine got leaked recently, actually.
"We found out it was coming from my label...two little boys in Germany on work experience were leaking all my s**t."
She added: "It's a shame when music gets put out there when it's not ready, but at the end of the day, it creates buzz and who doesn't love a bit of buzz?"
