Drinks in the Vic: Eastenders cleans up at Soap Awards Pic: ITV
Everybody loves a good old awards ceremony and the British Soap Awards is no different as stars of the small screen pull on their glittery glad-rags and head to the glamorous occassion.
Favourites from Hollyoaks, Doctors and Emmerdale take to the red carpet but the real competition always lies between the two biggest soaps – Eastenders and Coronation Street. Last night, it was the Albert Square regulars who got all the glory winning an impressive ten awards!
As reported on Digital Spy, Eastenders scooped the coveted 'Best Soap' category for the third consecutive year as well as winning 'Best Single Episode' for its live 25th anniversary instalment.

Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) and Lacey Turner (Stacey Branning) were named 'Best Actor' and 'Best Actress' and Scott also won 'Sexiest Male', whilst Lacey took home the prize for 'Best Dramatic Performance'. A well deserved win and a lovely way for Lacey to end her ‘Enders career after the star announced she was quitting the show to pursue other roles.
Eastenders also got the 'Best Storyline' gong for 'Who Killed Archie?' and Larry Lamb, who played evil Archie, won the title of 'Villain Of The Year'.
After the traumatic ‘coming out’ storyline, Marc Elliott (Syed Masood) was awarded 'Best Newcomer' and dear old Charlie Clements, who played Bradley Branning, won 'Best Exit'.
Corrie did not go home empty handed and managed to scoop three awards including ‘sexiest female’ for Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre), 'Best Comedy Performance' for Craig Gazey (Graeme Proctor), and Betty Driver received the 'Lifetime Achievement' award following 40 years in the role of barmaid Betty Williams. Another well deserved prize amongst rumours that Betty will be retiring from the show.
Doctors won two awards including 'Best Dramatic Performance From A Young Actor Or Actress' and 'Best On-Screen Partnership', whilst Hollyoaks and Emmerdale only managed one gong each.
Emmerdale's long-serving writer Bill Lyons won the 'Special Achievement' award and teen soap Hollyoaks won 'Spectacular Scene Of The Year' for Sarah Barnes's (Loui Batley) tragic skydive death.
You can watch all the action, drama and have a nosey at the frocks the stars wore, when The British Soap Awards 2010 is aired on Wednesday, May 19 on STV.
