Girls Aloud: Kimberley Walsh to join Cheryl on the X Factor team? Pic: ITV
Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh is being tipped to take over as the host of The Xtra Factor when the show returns in the autumn, a report has claimed.
The 28-year-old is said to be the front-runner to take over from Holly Willougby as the face of the popular spin-off show.
TV insiders have claimed that Willoughby is planning to leave the show to concentrate on her presenting duties for This Morning.
Sources had claimed that The One Show host Christine Bleakley had been linked with the Xtra Factor post but insiders believe that Walsh has emerged as the favourite for the job.
Kimberley's bandmate Cheryl is a judge on the main show and Walsh has already made an appearance on the programme.
A source told the Daily Star: "It's not 100% yet but it's looking more and more likely to happen.
"Kim's been on The X Factor before, helping Cheryl at the judges' houses stage, and Simon Cowell thought she was great."
Simon Cowell is said to be currently in negotiations with TV bosses to secure the return of the show to ITV.
