Karen Gillan can't wait to play a "promiscuous" assistant in Doctor Who. The Scottish actress - who will star in the BBC drama as Amy Pond when the show returns after Easter - has revealed her character "fancies" the Time Lord and the new series will see the pair kissing on numerous occasions.
She said: "Amy is... it's fair to say she's quite promiscuous. And it's fair to say she's attracted to the Doctor. But I don't think that she's in love with him. She's not this lovesick puppy following him around. She fancies him, but they're best friends... mainly. There is kissing, yes, but that will pan out as you watch."
The 22-year-old star will be joined on screen by Matt Smith who plays the new Doctor. Despite their characters' chemistry, Karen claims the actor is more of an "annoying older brother" figure.
She said: "The first time I met him... he was charming and lovely and put me at ease, but the whole thing was incredibly scary. I really liked him, he's a good looking guy. But he's like my annoying older brother. Annoying older brother - in a good way."
The model-turned-actress has also admitted the audition process for the show was so secretive she was given a code name on arrival.
She told Grazia magazine: "I had to give a code name to the people on reception because I couldn't tell them what I was there for. And it was code name 'Panic Room', which is an anagram of 'companion'. Sneaky."
