With prop week in tow, The Bill copper Gary Lucy’s prop of choice was a shiny cane. Performing to Ian Dury and The Blockheads Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick it was an perfect choice to accompany his stick.
Gary failed to complete last week’s required element of a solo spin, however he was keen to include it in this week’s routine.
Scoring 22 out of a possible 30, Gary listened to the judge’s remarks for the sidelines sweating profusely in an aqua blue outfit.
Robin told Gary: “Not bad at all. There were some major timing issues this afternoon but you were right on the money at the beginning. Overall I thought it was really not a bad attempt and you really controlled them [the two canes] very well.”
Last week Jason described Gary as “dull, dull, dull” however this week he was much more amazed telling Gary:”You’ve upped your game this week I absolutely applaud you for that. It was entertaining. I did see some synch issues but I applaud you for putting in the required element from last week to show us you can do that and that you are growing as a performer.”
Nicky was less generous complaining: “For me it didn’t have the commitment and the conviction at times that would lift my mark. This is Ian Drury and the Blockheads meets Fred Astaire at times. If you could just let yourself go, hit the ground with those sticks and have a bit of an edge to it. You’re a nice guy. Give me more power.”
Skating through to the semi final, Gary is against stiff competition from fellow soap stars Danniella Westbrook, Kieron Richardson and Hayley Tamaddon. The former Hollyoaks star will need to focus and rehearse all this week if in for a chance of landing a place in the grand final.
Will Gary make it to the final? Find out this Sunday, tune into Dancing on Ice on STV at 7.20pm
