X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has hired the lawyer who handled Sir Paul McCartney's acrimonious divorce, a report has claimed. The 26-year-old is believed to have had a consultation with Fiona Shackleton.
The lawyer became famous after Heather Mills gave her a soaking during her bitter divorce battle with the former Beatle.
Sources told a tabloid newspaper that Cheryl had spoken to Miss Shackleton when she announced her separation from footballer husband Ashley.
Insiders told the Daily Star that the Girls Aloud star has "not yet formally instructed" the law firm but is said to have taken advice on handling the split.
Cheryl been advised the grounds for divorce should be Ashley's unreasonable behaviour in allegedly sending texts and semi-naked pictures of himself to other women.
Pals of Ashley told the newspaper that the Chelsea star is "resigned" to the fact that the couple will divorce.
A source said: "It's probably best if this is over as quickly and painlessly as possible without mud-slinging.
"The only blessing is they haven't had kids."
