Cheryl Cole has had her first face-to-face meeting with estranged husband Ashley since their split three weeks ago, according to reports. The Chelsea footballer flew back to the UK on Friday night after receiving treatment on his broken ankle at a private clinic in France.
Sources believe that Cheryl and Ashley held their first crisis talks about the future of their marriage at their Surrey mansion.
Cheryl is currently ill with bronchitis and has had to cancel a string of promotional gigs and interviews.
Pals of the singer told the Daily Mirror that she is not yet well enough to talk to Ashley about their split.
A pal told the newspaper: "She is in no fit state to discuss the ins and outs of their relationship.
"She has made it very clear over the past few weeks she is no mood to kiss and make up."
Another source revealed that Ashley was "anxious" to return from being "cooped up" in the sports injury clinic to see Cheryl.
An insider added: "Ashley seemed very fragile.
"He started out in quite a good frame of mind, being quite chatty, but that didn't last long.
"It must have been the longest two-and-a-half weeks of his life."
