Ashley Cole has "begged" his estranged wife Cheryl to "take him back", a report has claimed. The Chelsea and England footballer met his wife for the first time on Friday after returning from a sports injury clinic in France where he has been convalescing for almost a month.
Sources told a tabloid newspaper that Ashley tried to hide his face when he arrived at their Surrey mansion.
Ashley was said to be "anxious" to see Cheryl, who is currently in bed after being stricken with severe bronchitis.
A source told the Daily Star: "Ashley was clearly very anxious to get home.
"Even if the doctors had said he needed more treatment, I'm certain he would have gone. The news had got through to people that his wife was ill.
"He didn't talk about it but was constantly texting on the phone and looked really concerned.
"Despite everything, they obviously have a bond."
The insider added: "You don't just suddenly hate someone you thought you loved."
