Charity Tate is shocked when her 'Emmerdale' lover organises a secret wedding for them.
Actress Emma Atkins - who portrays the scheming man-eater in the ITV soap - claims her character will be in for a huge surprise when she finds partner Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has arranged a secret ceremony for them and is unsure whether Charity will go through with it.
She said: "She has major doubts. As she prepares to say her vows at the back of her mind she's aware of the huge risk they're about to take committing to one another in this way."
The TV star believes her alter-ego is so terrified because she believes their romance could be the "real thing".
She said: "It's not because she doesn't love him. In fact, it's just the opposite. Charity is used to the big lavish wedding and to marrying men she doesn't have to express true emotion for. Her other weddings have never involved being in love. It's been about the money and security.
"Here with Cain she's aware her feelings run deeper and she finds herself in a unique situation - face to face with the real thing. It's requires real emotion and commitment. For the first time in her life, she's stumped."
Even if Cain and Charity don't make it down the aisle, Emma is convinced they will still have a future together.
She said: "It's inevitable they'll always have some kind of future together. Happy ever after though? Cain and Charity? You're joking!"
