Samia Smith used her baby as a weight to help tone her arms after childbirth.

The 'Coronation Street' star - who gave birth to baby Freya in October 2009 - claimed being a busy hands-on mum helped her shed pounds, tone up and return to her former size eight figure after pregnancy.

She said: "My arms are more toned from carrying Freya so I am content now. I kind of lost a lot of weight in the first couple of months... I think it was because I was breastfeeding - the weight just seemed to drop off."

The 27-year-old star - who plays hairdresser Maria Connor in the ITV1 soap - refused to go to the gym, so worked out at home in front of the TV with fitness DVDs instead.

She told OK! magazine: "After Christmas, I thought I needed to start toning up my body, as it was feeling a bit wobbly. Because I hate the gym, I bought myself a DVD called 'Ten Minute Solution: Blast Off Belly Flat', which would involve crunches and other aerobic moves.

"Within a month I'd lost a further stone and my stomach feels more toned than ever. Actually my whole body feels rejuvenated."
