Ashley Cole has snubbed the opportunity to meet his estranged wife Cheryl Cole to talk about the future of their marriage, a report has claimed. Sources have revealed that the Chelsea and England footballer has decided to concentrate on saving his sporting career.
The 29-year-old has taken the decision to stay at a sports injury clinic in France rather than fly home for the face-to-face meeting with Cheryl.
Insiders told the Daily Star that doctors informed Ashley that his chances of playing in the World Cup this summer would be jeopardised if he were to leave the injury clinic.
One fellow patient said: "He has faced a dreadful dilemma. He feels he should go to see his wife and try to sort out their problems.
"The longer the issues hang there, the less chance he has of smoothing things over.
"But the doctors aren't happy with the progress of his injury and don't want him to leave.
"You could almost say he put England before Cheryl."
