Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell has said he will support Cheryl Cole following the end of her marriage. The X Factor judge split from Chelsea defender Ashley following allegations that he was unfaithful.
Talking at Sir Elton John's Oscars party, the music impresario claimed that his colleague would be "strong" enough to deal with the break-up.
He told the Daily Mail: "She's a friend and you're always going to be there for friends.
"She's going through a hard time, but you know, she's a strong girl. I've been in touch and I'm there for her."
Asked if he thought the split between the couple was permanent, he replied: "You've got to do what feels right for you."
Meanwhile, Simon was accompanied to the post-Oscars party by his girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy where they mingled with the likes of Victoria Beckham, Kelly Brook, Katie Price and Amanda Holden.
The couple shared a table with the original X Factor panelists Sharon Osbourne, and Louis Walsh. The trio worked together on the first four series of the talent show.
Walsh told the Daily Mirror: "We get through a few [bottles of champagne] and some wine as well, and that's just for dinner."
He added: "I'm with my friends and we have the most fun, I promise. There's more laughing at our table than any other table."
