Kieron Richardson is slowly earning his place as a true contender as the Dancing on Ice competition begins to heat up.
The Hollyoaks boy began the competition with little confidence as he worried about being branded ‘the skinny boy who couldn’t do lifts’, but has since raised his game, this week discovering how to make use of his acting skills.
Skating to Pink Panther, Kieron was quietly confident that this fun-loving routine would give him that all-important boost up the leaderboard.
“I am going to hold my own, it should be my week seeing as I’m an actor," he said.
“If I don’t get a 20 then that means I am not worthy to be in the competition.”
Jayne agreed with Kieron adding that Movie Week would be critical for the actor in establishing him as a contender.
Kieron and partner Brianne Delcourt opened the routine in pink PVC raincoats and skated to a routine featuring running men, searching lunges, splits drag and a round-the-world lift.
The judges seemed impressed as the pair broke into the 20s with an overall score of 21, a personal best.
Robin compared Kieron’s progress to the fable about the tortoise and the hare, saying: “The tortoise is starting to come through big time at this point in the competition when you need to start nailing it.
"I love the fact you were the first celebrity tonight who has come out here and delivered with confidence, regardless of what might happen as a result. A really good performance. I loved the attack and the energy."
Emma added: “For me you’re just growing every week. And I love that you’re putting lots of character into the performance now instead of just thinking about what steps you’re doing. You’re just making everything a bit more easier and I’m enjoying it more.”
