X Factor star Alexandra Burke has revealed that she is "heartbroken" after her visit to Haiti. The singer went to see the devastation caused by the recent earthquake.
Burke flew out to the country's capital Port-au-Prince to raise awareness of the struggles faced by the people following the disaster.
The 21-year-old met `miracle boy' Kiki Joachin, who was rescued from rubble after being trapped underground for days.
The star also visited a Save The Children camp, where she played with some of the youngsters and handed out gifts.
She told The Sun: "The desperation of so many people has broken my heart. Kiki is the bravest person I've ever met.
"I'm honoured to meet him and to sing on a record that has his picture on the front. Despite going through hell, he's still here smiling. He's beautiful. I didn't know what to say to these people who lost so much."
She added: "You see the poverty and destruction in the papers or on the news, but nothing prepares you for this.
"It's like being punched in the stomach. I just hope millions buy the 'Everybody Hurts' single. This is a whole country on its knees."
The singer has said she will return to the country to see how the donations are being spend.
She continued: "I feel really guilty to get on a plane and return home, leaving all these people.
"But what we've seen was magical. I saw kids smiling and adults making the best of a bad situation."
