Theatre star Michael Ball will join the judging panel of Dancing on Ice on Sunday night, a report has claimed.
Sources have claimed that the 47-year-old will take over from head judge Robin Cousins on week six of the ice dance contest.
Cousins will be taking a two-week break from the hit reality show to commentate on figure skating for the BBC during the forthcoming Winter Olympics.
Insiders told The Sun that the former Hairspray star is being groomed to become one of the top presenters for ITV.
Sources said that the news of his appointment to the judging panel will be officially announced by Coleen Nolan and Ben Shepard on the spin-off show Dancing on Ice Friday.
An insider told the newspaper: "Even though Michael isn't an ice dancer, he has had loads of theatre experience and will be judging the contestants on performance skills."
It is believed that Dancing on Ice bosses might invite Ball to return on next week's show if his debut "goes down well with viewers".
The source also revealed that Michael has just finished filming the pilot programme for a new ITV chatshow.
