Pop star Pixie Lott launched Sunday’s Dancing on Ice with a quirky acoustic cover of King of Leon’s classic Use Somebody.
The blonde singer was perched in the centre of the ice with her accompaniment while Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean opened the show with an impressive routine circling the singer.
The 19-year-old, who is nominated for three awards at this year’s Brits including Female Solo Artist, also performed at the end of the show, singing Cry Me Out from her debut album Turn It Up.
Decked out in silver outfits, Torvill and Dean performed a stunning and inspiring routine to the vocals of Lott before outlining the evenings required element.
Each week the celebrities must incorporate a specific element into their choreographed routine and this week it was the pairs spin. The move involves both dancers spinning together, each on one leg. The contestants were also required to complete at least two revolutions, although Torvill added the pressure by asking for three.
The night’s escapade on the ice saw Heather Mills being voted out following a skate off with Hollyoaks star Keiron Richardson, but it was Emmerdale’s Hayley Tamaddon who stole the show, for all the wrong reasons.
Tamaddon faced the headbanger move which requires her partner to swing her round from the ankles with her head just inches from the surface of the ice. But it was a previous stag lift that saw both her and her partner crumble into a heap in the middle of the ice.
However, they managed back onto their skates and even scored a high of 21 and the topspot on the leader board from the judges.
