Having had their 15 minutes of fame courtesy of appearing on Popstars: The Rivals in 2006, the Cheeky Girls are determined to conquer Britain again- this time as a dance act.
The pop duo have reinvented themselves as a dance trio after teaming up with cousin Darius and view Britain’s Got Talent as the ideal launch pad for their new career.
The 27 year-old girls, best known for single The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) stunned BGT judges by turning up at yesterday’s auditions in Hammersmith, West London with their cousin in tow to showcase the new act.
A source told reporters their performance caused judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan to “raise their eyebrows.”
Added the source: “Monica and Gabriela were the original reality show twins- long before Jedward came on the scene
“But now they’ve revamped their act and it’s just dancing. They arrived at the auditions yesterday absolutely full of themselves.
“They were really excited about appearing on the show and already talking about what they would perform if they got through.”
Simon Cowell has rejoined the judging panel after X Factor judge Louis Walsh had to stand in for him after the poorly pop guru was laid with low with a does of the flu.
In October 2008, the Cheeky Girls appeared on TV parody, Peter Kay’s Britain’s Got The Pop Factor…and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice.
