Dancing on Ice's youngest competitor  Emily Atack was dismayed after finding herself at the bottom of the judge’s leader board last week.

Beginning training with a new-found determination, Emily said: “Last week I felt like I worked the hardest I had ever worked in my life and it still didn’t pay off so it shows that hard work is not enough, you have to really push yourself to limits that you didn’t think you could do.

Olympic gold medallists Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean decided to work on the feedback given by the judge’s which criticised the actress for clinging on to her professional partner Fred.

“I think this week is a critical week for Emily,” Jayne said. “To make her safer, she needs to get higher scores and be further up the leader board.”

Determined to prove she can skate just as well as everybody else, Emily decided to include some solo skating at the beginning of the routine.

“I need to pull out a good performance because I am not prepared to have the lowest score of the bunch again.”

Dressed in peppermint puffball dress, Emily took to the ice with some attitude and flair, performing a routine which featured a yoga lift, back crossovers and a big table top lift to finish.

After receiving a personal best of 15 out of 30, Emily said: “I cant explain how amazing this feels.”

Over on the judging panel, Emma was certainly impressed: “You looked confident, you looked sexy. Where has this Emily been?”

“I know you found it really difficult last week but look what happened. We have to give you constructive criticism and you can get better. I’m so pleased for you and I love that you skated on your own because you’ve just shown me that you’re a brilliant skater.”

Nicky was full of praise too. He told Emily: “I loved the way that you were daring to present and stretch out. There’s more to come. It’s the linking of the movements now. But this is a big step forward. Link it altogether, make it smooth, look into his eyes and tell us a story then the marks will go even higher.”

Jason added to the love-in telling Emily: “I think by far this was your best week. Finally you’re coming out there and you’re putting it all together.

And of course, Jason had a little positive criticism to add: “What I will say though, is just watch the arms because they don’t develop at all they’re just here or there. So I want you to get more fluidity in the arms. At the very top you had a great little story, it was very coquettish but you kind of lost a bit of the story as you get into the technical requirements.”
