Corrie producer Kim Crowther has insisted that Tracy Barlow's release from prison will be undertaken in a realistic manner.
She has promised that research has been conducted to find a "perfectly legitimate" way for Tracy to return to Weatherfield.
Actress Kate Ford will return to her role as Tracy later this year as she becomes embroiled in another character's jail storyline.
She will make a full-time return to the Street towards the end of 2010 in time for the show's 50th anniversary.
Crowther told Digital Spy: "It's interesting - you have to get round these logistical things sometimes in shows like ours and I don't really mind it, I have to say.
"I don't mind the odd contrivance if you're on the edge of your seat going, 'How audacious! Look at that!' If it excites you, I don't really mind."
She added: "We have a story to get her out and we've researched it so it's perfectly legitimate but I wouldn't really care if it wasn't particularly, because I just think it's so exciting anyway! As a viewer I wouldn't care."
Barlow is serving 15 years after she was found guilty of murdering her partner Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward).
