Michelle Keegan has revealed that she is dressing down for her new Coronation Street plot. Her character Tina McIntyre is about to lose her father Joe (Reece Dinsdale).
Joe dies in boating accident when an insurance scam he is planning goes tragically wrong.
Michelle has confirmed that viewers will be seeing a less fashion-conscious Tina is coming weeks.
She told The Sun: "When you're wearing a lot of black and have no make-up on you get into that role more."
Keegan added that she found filming the sad scenes a challenge and emotionally draining.
She said: "I've done nothing but cry over the past few weeks, or get depressed.
"Tina is just in shock and can't believe what's happening. She'll have a void in her life now.
"I had a friend whose parents both passed away. I knew how hurt she was and for Tina this is the worst thing in the world."
It was recently revealed that Corrie bosses asked Michelle to cut back on her level of tan for the storyline.
A Coronation Street spokesperson told The People: "The producers asked Michelle to tone down her tan for a few weeks.
"Tina is about to go through emotional problems and will find it hard to leave the house.
"So it wouldn't make sense for her to have a tan. Michelle agreed and was more than happy to give the tanning a break for the time being."
