Cheryl Cole is embroiled in a row with a former X Factor contestant. Rowetta Satchell has refused to let the Girls Aloud singer from using a sample of her song.

The former Happy Mondays star came fourth in the first series of The X Factor.

Cheryl wanted to use a sample from her song `Be' as part of her performance for `Fight For This Love' at the Brit Awards.

Rowetta told The Sun: "Her record company asked to use my sample but wanted an 'anonymous face'.

"I said I'm be happy to perform but they don't want that.

"Imagine if I wanted to sample Cheryl and got someone to mime to her voice. That would never be allowed."

Stachell has some advice for anybody thinking about trying out for The X Factor 2010.

She told Digital Spy: "I'd highly recommend it to anyone, but make sure you do your groundwork before.

"Do some singing and not just karaoke. They all turn up and there mums already think they are a star."

She added: "People like Leona - she had worked hard before X Factor, she didn't just turn up. It should only really be a last resort.

"I don't understand why a rocker like Jamie Afro would go on. The moment he did the group dance, his credibility was shot. I would never had done the group dance.

"Well, we couldn't have done it my year because we had 2 To Go - God! - it would have ended up like that Peter Kay show. Can you imagine me, Steve and G4 dancing?"
