Simon Cowell made profits of more than £21million from his hit TV shows The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent last year, a report has claimed.

The entertainment mogul's Simco Ltd realised the equivalent of almost £50,000 in profits for every day of 2009.

The company, which was founded by the 50-year-old, controls some of the UK's top rated TV shows.

Figures have revealed that Simco made a £21.1m profit in the 15 months to March last year, a rise of 65% on the previous year, says the Daily Star

Cowell is set to increase his fortune after signing a lucrative deal to take The X Factor to the US in 2011.

The X Factor boss will bring the reality TV talent format to Hollywood after striking a deal with the Fox network.

Meanwhile, a report has claimed that Cowell has decided to stick with the arena audition format for the next series of The X Factor in the UK.

He made the change to the show on 2009 after being inspired by the success of the live auditions on Britain's Got Talent.

A source told The Sun: "The auditions were criticised but the series as a whole felt much bigger, borne out by the ratings.

"It was the most successful yet."
