House Gift is returning to STV screens this month, with three interior design experts descending on an ordinary home and competing to find something that will win a permanent place in the heart of the household.
However, there is a twist – each expert is armed with a different budget as they head off in search of the perfect house gift: £1000, £300 or £80.
The show follows the design experts as they hunt down hidden gems - everywhere from antiques markets, to the UK’s best known high street stores. From auction houses to charity shops, from salvage yards to designer boutiques, nowhere is safe!
Experts who have previously appeared include Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, accomplished building renovator and restorer Philip Chklar, furniture expert Stephen Collins, columnist Danielle Proud, antique dealer Tom Keane and Gillian Anderson Price, whose vintage interiors boutique is a celebrity favourite.
The experts might choose a reproduction mirror, an antique sideboard, or a contemporary leather sofa. It might be a modern Italian chair, a huge piece of art or a delicate china figurine. Whatever it is, it must compliment the home and appeal to the homeowners.
At the end of the day, the homeowners must pick which house gift they want to keep. Will they be driven by gut instinct or greed? Will the £80 gift triumph over the £1,000 gift? And which of our highly competitive experts will come out on top?
House Gift combines intense competition with in-depth curiosity about other people’s homes and tastes - and at its heart, there’s the constant play-off between what something is worth, and how highly it’s valued.
- House Gift returns to STV on Monday January 25, and will be on weekdays at 2pm. You will be able to catch-up with the latest shows on the STV Player.
