'Coronation Street' kidnapper John Stape will return to teaching.
Graeme Hawley - who plays the former jailbird in the ITV soap - will secure a job as a teacher in coming weeks of the show, despite previously having served time for kidnapping a pupil.
John was jailed last year for abducting teenage student lover Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) and holding her captive in a remote house.
After getting an early release and marrying Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine), he is determined to make a new life for himself but is unable to be a teacher with his criminal record, so he applies for a job at an adult education centre.
'Coronation Street' bosses have promised they will deal with the issue sensitively.
An insider said: "We know that John returning to teaching and the fact the college may not check him out properly will cause a lot of controversy with our viewers.
"But in true Corrie tradition, John's job and whether he pursues it for long will be one of our great slow burning storylines."
