Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole has said that he believes that the show, which sees celebrities partner out with professional dancers to compete against one another has a “shelf life”.
The admission comes after The X Factor and Strictly went head to head this year, with the dancing talent show losing out in the ratings war.
Brendan said he believes the reason for this is because Strictly has a much lower budget that The X Factor, which this year alone featured mega stars including Whitney Houston, The Black Eyed Peas and George Michael, to name a few.
Speaking to Metro, he said: “X Factor’s got the money and they can spend it on Robbie Williams and Whitney Houston.”
The professional dancer, who is well known for being the ‘bad boy’ of the show, also said he thinks that the show bosses need to have a re-think about the layout of Strictly to make it work better.
He said: “We have world-class dancers, a good production unit, I say take it back to the way it used to be. Smaller maybe.”
And in what seemed to be a dig at fifth panellist Darcey Bussell, who has joined the show to help judge since the quarter finals, he added: “Too many judges can spoil the mix.”
