STV has announced its line-up for Hogmanay, celebrating the best Scottish talent, entertainment and music and promising viewers an evening packed with festive programmes to see in the New Year.
Scottish entertainment stars Andy Cameron and Michelle McManus were on hand to launch the new schedule, which promises a wide selection of homegrown entertainment to keep viewers tuned in.
The Hogmanay line-up includes brand new documentary The Scots Factor, an entertaining look at Scotland's contribution to today's ratings juggernauts, Scotland’s Always Had Talent, which looks at our rich history of variety performers, The Making of The Greatest Scot and Academy Live, which features among other great acts chart-toppers Travis and The Fratellis.
Susan Boyle's album is the biggest-selling debut of all time, just eight months after she burst into the spotlight on Britain's Got Talent - however, she's not the first Scot to be successful in a reality talent competition.
In The Scots Factor, STV remembers the many Scots who have lit up Britain's talent shows, including Leon Jackson, Michelle McManus, David Sneddon, Keith Jack - and who can forget Darius Danesh?
Taking viewers up to the bells, STV will show Scotland's Always Had Talent, a celebration of the fascinating history of variety, with contributions from some of Scotland's best loved performers.
They say that variety is the spice of life - it certainly was the lifeblood of Scottish popular culture and entertainment for well over a century. Presented by singer and presenter Michelle McManus, Scotland's Always Had Talent evokes the fun and laughs of variety in Scotland, and features great footage from the STV archives, hilarious anecdotes and interviews with some of Scotland's best entertainers past and present, including Dorothy Paul, Johnny Beattie, Ford Kiernan, Andy Cameron, The Krankies and Brenda Cochrane.
Also this Hogmanay, STV will air The Making of The Greatest Scot, a revealing peek behind the scenes at STV's recent search for the most popular and significant Scot of all time. This autumn, STV launched a global search for the most significant, influential and popular Scot throughout history, celebrating the staggering achievements of our most accomplished Scots.
Now, viewers have a chance to watch the very best from the series, as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the judging panel's heated discussions, hilarious presenter outtakes, and a reminder of the public's Greatest Scot - iconic poet Robert Burns, followed by runners-up William Wallace, Alexander Fleming, Jock Stein and David Tennant.
STV will round off its Hogmanay line-up with Academy Live, a star-studded concert featuring music from some of Scotland's very best pop and rock acts, including world famous chart toppers Travis and The Fratellis, Glasgow pop sensations Attic Lights, Fife based indie rockers Sergeant, and Alfonzo from Edinburgh.
A must-see for all music lovers, Academy Live is hosted by Glaswegian presenter Shantha Roberts and was filmed at the O2 Academy in Glasgow. As well as top performances from some of Scotland's very best acts, viewers will also get an exclusive glimpse backstage as Shantha chats to the bands.
Alan Clements, Head of Content at STV, said: "This year we're seeing in the New Year with a bang, and we hope viewers will stay with us all the way to the bells and beyond.
“We've lined up a fantastic mix of programmes to celebrate the best of Scottish talent, entertainment and music - from Scotland's most memorable talent show acts, to our best loved Variety performers and great music from Scotland's top bands - and I'm confident there's something in there for everyone."
